4 Benefits of Undergoing Plastic Surgery in the Winter

Beautiful Young Woman With Arrows on FaceYou have decided that you are ready for plastic surgery, and now it is time to book your appointment. The question you may be asking yourself is, “When should I schedule my surgery?” Most patients find that the ideal season to undergo plastic surgery is winter. Whether you want a breast augmentation or liposuction, the cool weather makes winter the perfect time to schedule your procedure. Plus, with a new year just starting, why not get your face and body into shape to look your best for 2017!

Start Early on Your Summer Body

Plastic surgery results do not appear overnight. Most patients will have residual swelling for six months to one year. Someone who is wanting to get their body in shape for summer would ideally need to undergo their procedure during the winter or early spring. This allows time for swelling and bruising to subside and for surgical wounds to heal. Once the entire recovery process has come and gone, patients can be ready to show off their new results at the beach or pool this summer.

A Relaxing and Comfortable Recovery

Once the temperature drops, many people find themselves layering their clothes and snuggling up. Staying comfortable and relaxed away from the sun and activities is conducive to a healthy recovery. Winter is a convenient season to bundle up and stay indoors to ease through recovery.

After the procedure, the recovery is the most important process. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons can provide you with all the information you need to know about the recovery for your particular surgery.

It’s a Perfect Time for a “Staycation”

Life gets crazy, and every once in a while, we need a vacation. After undergoing plastic surgery, why not use some vacation time to take a “staycation”? Most operations will require a week or two of recovery. You should allow yourself to stay home or in a comfortable environment for postoperative care. Patients who take their recovery process seriously will benefit by achieving the best results possible.

Cover Up While the Body Is Healing

Winter time is all about throwing on extra clothing to stay warm and protect the skin from the dry weather. Many plastic surgery patients will notice their swelling, bruising, and surgical wounds are easier to conceal this time of year. Patients can discreetly recover from their surgery without revealing their body before unveiling their final results in the warmer months down the line.

If you want to undergo plastic surgery before the weather heats up, you should schedule your consultation with Dr. Wald today! He can evaluate your face or body to help you decide on the best procedure for you. Contact us by calling (714) 312-3549 or by filling out our online contact form.

Does CoolSculpting Work?

CoolSculpting Vs. Sculpture

coolsculpting vs sculptureDo you exercise and diet, yet still have stubborn fat? If you decided to get rid of your stubborn fat, you may be wondering what is the best option. There are non-surgical fat removal options such as CoolSculpting and SculpSure. These non-invasive procedures have become a popular plastic surgery trend. At the Aesthetic Institute, Dr. Wald is proud to offer SculpSure treatments and can explain why it is more effective than CoolSculpting.

CoolSculpting

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting by Zeltiq is a fat-freezing procedure that uses cooling to eliminate stubborn fat in areas such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and chin. CoolSculpting kills fat cells beneath the skin, which eventually are eliminated from your body. The average cost for CoolSculpting is about $2,250 for a specific area of the body.

You and your doctor or medical professional will chose an area of concern on your body to apply a gel pad and CoolSculpting applicator. The vacuum applicator is used to suck the tissue (skin) into the applicator cup. Once the tissue is positioned fully in the applicator cup, the freezing begins. The procedure may be chilly, but as the area becomes numb the pulling, tugging, or pinching may subside. The patient may experience bruising and swelling after the procedure.

SculpSure

What is SculpSure?
SculpSure by Cynosure is a light-based body contouring laser that targets and destroys stubborn fat cells in just 25 minutes. SculpSure targets the flanks, abdomen, and back. The damaged cells are naturally eliminated from the body as early as 6 weeks, but can take up to 12 weeks. The average cost for Sculpture is about $1,800 for a specific area of the body.

You and your doctor or medical professional will determine a target area or areas of concern on your body. The Sculpture applicators will be applied to your skin and properly secured. As the session begins the applicators will heat up and you may experience a tingling sensation. The SculpSure laser destroys fat cells in a band 2-3 centimeters under the skin. In addition to losing a small amount of weight, you lose size. The treatment takes approximately 25 minutes with no anesthesia, minimal to no discomfort and no down time. Sculpture is the perfect solution for destroying fat and non-surgical body contouring.

Which non-invasive procedure is right for me, CoolSculpting or Sculpture?

Both CoolSculpting and SculpSure are non-invasive fat reducers. SculpSure not only reduces fat, but treatments encourage collagen and elastin production. Both treatments have no downtime. Most patients return to work after their procedure and can immediately resume their daily activities. SculpSure takes only 25 minutes; so many patients complete a treatment on their lunch break, compared to CoolSculpting which takes at least an hour to complete 1 treatment. CoolSculpting takes 2-4 treatments for optimal results, whereas SculpSure can take just one treatment. CoolSculpting treats only one area at a time. SculpSure can treat four areas at once. SculpSure is effective and can maximize your results more quickly, for a lower cost.

Sculpt and Define the Body Nonsurgically With SculpSure®

shutterstock_77729719Many people want to sculpt and define their bodies but are apprehensive about undergoing a surgical procedure such as liposuction or tummy tuck surgery. We all live busy lives but still want to look good while doing it. However, surgery involves a lot of downtime and pain, which requires many patients to take too much time off from work. Most people do not have the time to take away from their hectic schedules. One of the latest innovative laser technologies is SculpSure®. Like liposuction, SculpSure® can sculpt the body and remove excess fat while defining its contours. However, SculpSure® provides similar results without the surgery or any incisions. Patients can achieve a tighter, better-toned body without the long recovery and anesthesia risks.

No Downtime or Pain With SculpSure®

SculpSure® is a state-of-the-art controlled light-based technology that offers convenient and comfortable body contouring. It is an ideal procedure for those looking to remove stubborn pockets of excess fat that are unresponsive to diet and exercise. SculpSure® can be performed in-office within 25 minutes; most people are in and out of the treatment in less time than they take for their lunch break. Offering no downtime or pain, SculpSure® can treat multiple anatomical areas during the same treatment session.

SculpSure® Treatment Areas:

  • Abdomen
  • Flanks
  • Love handles
  • Muffin tops

How Does SculpSure® Work?

Prior to SculpSure® treatment, the target area(s) are marked. A customized application pattern is applied to the treatment area. Applicators are snapped into the frame and deliver laser energy to permanently destroy the targeted fat cells. Patients will feel a cooling sensation throughout the treatment to keep them comfortable.

The body will naturally absorb and remove the fat cells over the next six weeks. Complete results can be seen within 12 weeks. The number of treatments needed will depend on the amount of excess fat that is in the target area(s). Typically, most patients require two to four treatments for optimal results.

Patients are able to get up and go about their normal day immediately following treatment. Overall, they will be satisfied with their slimmer, natural-looking appearance without any surgery or downtime.

Getting Beach Ready: Male Body Enhancement

It is no surprise that most people find themselves feeling insecure with bathing suit season lurking just around the corner. At the beach or pool, the most common attire includes bikinis, short shorts, and tank tops – pretty much anything that reveals a lot of skin. Since getting a beach body cannot happen over night, many people diet and exercise long before summer hits so they can look and feel good when it comes time to slip into the latest summer fashions.

Although women seem to be the main ones who fear showing off their bodies during the hotter months, many men are also insecure about removing their t-shirt in front of people at the beach or pool.

Men Do Care About Their Bodies!

Whether they want to be more toned, have better-shaped pectorals, or have a more slim and muscular abdomen, many men have tried to address problem areas by practicing a healthy lifestyle. Even though diet and exercise are effective in weight loss and muscle toning, they cannot correct all features of the male body. For this reason, more men are seeking cosmetic enhancements to achieve a more masculine and toned physique.

Male Body Enhancement ProceduresBefore and After Gynecomastia Surgery

  • Fat reduction (liposuction): Some pockets of fat tend to be resistant to diet and exercise, especially areas such as the abdomen, flanks (“love handles”), chest, chin, and neck. Liposuction is a surgical technique used to target these fatty areas and improve the contours of the body.
  • Abdominal reduction (tummy tuck): Excess abdominal fat and loose abdominal muscles and skin are often difficult for men to target without the use of surgery. Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck surgery, can be performed on a man’s body to remove excess skin and fat, tighten the abdominal wall, and trim the waistline.
  • Muscle-enhancing surgery (implants): Some men feel as if their calves are lacking fullness or would like their chest more “bulked out.” Calf or pectoral implants can be used to enhance the shape of these muscles and improve the contours of the body.

By undergoing one or a combination of these procedures, a man can achieve a figure that is more slender, toned, and masculine. He can walk onto the beach or into the pool area and proudly take off his shirt and enjoy the summer weather with confidence.

Do you want to achieve more toned and slender body contours? Dr. Wald is an experienced plastic surgeon who can help you decide on the best procedure to meet your goals. You can schedule your consultation by calling (714) 312-3549 or by filling out our online contact form.

Lose Those Last Few Inches Before Summer

Before and After LiposuctionHave you found yourself cringing at the thought of putting a bathing suit on during the summertime? Maybe you have been good all year, keeping to a strict diet and exercising regularly, yet you find those specific areas of fat unresponsive to a healthy lifestyle.

Often, certain areas of fat cannot be addressed with traditional weight-loss methods. This is why many men and women look to surgery to get rid of fatty deposits throughout the body. Liposuction can be used to remove fat from specific areas and sculpt the body. Instead of having to squeeze into a bikini, shorts, or other summer styles, liposuction can be used to address those last remaining inches so you can be comfortable and confident.

It is time to get summer-ready and to get rid of areas of fat causing you to be insecure about showing off your body at the pool or beach. Liposuction can be used to eliminate fatty areas as well as to improve the contours of the body.

Common Liposuction Areas

  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Abdomen
  • Knees
  • Ankles
  • Face
  • Neck

Liposuction can be performed anywhere on the body that has localized fat deposits. To remove fat and to sculpt the area, Dr. Wald uses a small cannula to vacuum suction out the fat. After the procedure, swelling and bruising are normal, but once the area has healed completely, patients can expect dramatic results.

Liposuction Benefits

  • Provides a smoother, better-contoured body
  • Reduces localized fat deposits
  • Eliminates the appearance of cellulite
  • Improves the texture of the skin tone

Don’t go through another summer covering up your body because you are insecure about stubborn excess fat. You can tackle those last few inches with liposuction! Liposuction patients can expect an overall improvement in their body contours and can achieve a smoother, more flattering physique. If you just have a few areas of fat you would like to target, Dr. Wald can help you get bathing-suit ready by using liposuction to enhance your body shape.
