How to get rid of turkey neck

Skin Under Chin Sagging; Excess Skin Removal

How to get rid of turkey neck in orange countyIn my practice, I see a number of men in their 70’s and 80’s who develop a lot of loose skin under their chin.  This deformity is commonly called a Turkey Wattle deformity.  Most men of this age group do not want a facelift and want a simple procedure to correct this problem.  This excess skin under the chin is of concern since this extra skin bulges over the shirt collar.

A simple operation to correct this problem is to directly remove the excess skin and fat from under the chin area.  A small rotation of the neck skin is also performed in the neck crease (Z-plasty).  The only downside to this procedure is the scar in the middle of the neck.  This scar usually heals beautifully and blends well.  Most men would prefer to have this scar over a larger operation.  This procedure is done under local anesthesia and only 3 days of downtime.

Orange County Facelifts-Not all the same

Today, economics are driving our spending. We are all concerned about our families and we all have been affected by the world downturn. As a result of these circumstances, we are all looking for the best deal and a quick fix that will correct our aging faces.

There are multiple methods to improve our facial appearance. Today, we see many TV commercials and magazine ads showing wonderful results of facelifts that are inexpensive and require minimal surgery. I would caution consumers about surgeries that promise these great results. Good surgery requires time, expense and good surgical skill. Remember, it is your face that you are improving. Bad results can occur that may not be correctable. Your financial investment in your face will be worth every dollar you spend. Please do your research well.

Fat Injections In The Face

Fat Transfer To The Face

Fat Injections in the faceAfter performing facial rejuvenation procedures for over 20 years, I have now found fat injections to be a wonderful adjunct to improve my results.  Not only does fat improve volume, but it appears to have a regenerating effect on tissue adjacent to where the fat is injected.  Fat contains “adult stem cells” that are believed to elaborate growth factors and other as yet not clearly defined cellular mediators.  Numerous anecdotal and a growing number of scientific reports now support this idea.  It is my clinical opinion that fat improves skin quality and further enhances my results.

It is important that the patient realizes that more bruising will occur with fat injections versus fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane.  This procedure can be done under local or general anesthesia.  The length of time that fat lasts is also not exactly known but it can last for years.

Because fat is taken from the abdomen, thighs, flanks, or buttocks, a nice improvement in those areas is also obtained.

Facelift Surgery Cost in Orange County

Average Cost of Facelift Surgery

facelift surgery costFacelift costs can be very confusing to most patients. The reason for this is that facial rejuvenation is complicated and includes many of the aging characteristics.

A facelift is a surgical procedure to improve the visible signs of aging in the face and neck.  These signs include sagging in the mid face, fat that has fallen or is displaced, loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw, and deep creases below the lower eyelids.

A facelift does not include correction of the forehead, brow position, eyelids, wrinkles around the mouth and eyelids, and general fat loss in the lips and in the face.  To correct these problems a browlift,  blepharoplasties, laser therapy, and fat injections would be required. These procedures are in addition to a facelift and would be priced separately.

Also, facelifts vary in their complexity and whether they correct only the mid face or mid face and neck.  Most mid facelifts correct the cheeks and jowls. A more extensive facelift would also correct the neck and involve more incisions and time.  A mini facelift (mid facelift) involves less incisions and time, and would cost less than a full face and neck lift.

facelift costCosts for a facelift vary on geographic location of the office and the doctor’s experience. It is important to know what is involved with a facelift fee. There are many costs involved with facelift surgery. These include:

– Surgeon’s fee

-Hospital or surgical facility costs

-Anesthesia fees

-Preoperative medical costs

-Medication fees

-Post-surgical garments

-Aftercare fees

As I have described, facelift surgery depends on the technique used and the extent of the procedure. In general, a minor (mini) facelift will cost $11,000, on average. Standard (full) face and neck lift surgery, on average, will cost $13,500. A mid facelift will cost $10,000, on average. A lower facelift, on average, will cost $11,000.

In addition, eyelid surgery, brow lift surgery, facial liposuction, fat injections, or laser therapy added at the same time of a facelift will increase the cost of treatment.  Patients should realize that numerous financing plans are available for this surgery and can make this procedure quite affordable.  Many plastic surgery offices offer facelift financing plans and accept a variety of payment options.

When choosing a plastic surgeon for facelift surgery, remember that the surgeons experience and your comfort with him or her are just as important as the final cost of the surgery.

Facial Harmony

Our Neck is often one of the first areas to show early signs of aging. Tissue changes include loose, wrinkled or hanging skin. Hereditary conditions cause excess fat in the neck creating  a double chin. The combination of tissue decent, fat accumulation and exposure to the elements can have a profound impact on neck contour and skin quality. When the skin becomes slack under the chin, it can create an unattractive “waddle” or “turkey” neck. Occasionally the muscles of the neck become more prominent and sometimes appear as vertical cords. Loose skin and fat deposits can also produce jowls or jowl line contour deformities.

In order to correct these problems, surgical intervention is required. Frequently a full face lift is most effective. My patients are shown that the face and neck are in continuity and in order to achieve facial harmony, neck and facial tissues must be tightened together.

However depending on the degree of neck and facial skin aging, selected patients can undergo isolated neck lifts. In these patients, hair line incisions are made behind the ear which is unnoticeable. Some patients with minor degree of neck loosening can undergo temporal or short scar lifts. Essential to these procedures are the patient’s desires and expectations. Patients with neck fullness can undergo liposuction alone which allows for secondary skin contraction and tightening.
