Acne is a condition that can arise when there’s an overabundance of bacteria and oil on the skin. Normal oil amounts keep skin healthy, and when hormones are properly balanced, estrogens and androgens work to keep the skin moisturized. However, hormonal imbalances can cause the
sebaceous glands on the skin to overproduce oil. This excess oil, combined with anaerobic bacteria, can lead to acne. In many cases, acne is painful, difficult to treat, and can leave permanent scars, but with modern technology, acne and acne scars can be treated with great success. Dr. Robert Wald at The Aesthetic Institute utilizes the Sciton® Laser to effectively treat acne in many patients, improving not only their condition but also the quality of their skin and the appearance of acne scars.
How the Sciton® Laser Works
The Sciton® Laser transfers heat directly through the skin and penetrates deep into the dermal layer. Precision cooling technology protects the surface skin from damage during the process. The heat waves kill bacteria and increase collagen production and skin contraction. Some of the conditions this treatment can improve are facial wrinkles, sun spots, pigmentation problems, acne scars, and active acne. The treatment is only 15 to 30 minutes long, and patients experience minimal pain, little or no recovery period, and no downtime.
How It Treats Acne
While other treatments may fail to treat resistant active acne, the Sciton® Laser has been shown to be effective in reducing acne in all skin types and tones. As the Sciton® Laser penetrates the skin, it kills bacteria and shrinks the sebaceous glands so that they are less likely to overproduce oil. It also stimulates the growth of collagen, which repairs and heals the skin. These processes work together to repair acne-damaged skin and to reduce the likelihood of future acne. Dr. Wald can use the Sciton® Laser on the face, neck, chest, back, and arms to treat acne. It is more effective and safer than common CO₂ lasers because it treats all skin types, allows Dr. Wald excellent precision control, increases patient comfort, improves recovery time, and adapts easily to new procedures and treatments. Using this evolving technology, Dr. Wald can always provide his patients with the newest developments available for the Sciton® Laser.
Even though acne affects almost everyone, it shouldn’t have to be a burden or leave you with permanent reminders in the form of scars. Dr. Robert Wald is a board-certified plastic surgeon who can treat your active acne or acne scars with Sciton® Laser technology. Time, genetics, hormones, sun exposure, and years of facial contractions eventually take a bit of a toll on the face. Fine lines, wrinkles, thinning lips and cheeks, acne scars, sun spots, and more can show up at any time, often causing you to look older than you are or than you feel. While facelift surgery could be an appropriate option for your needs, there are nonsurgical facial rejuvenation procedures that may be better suited to your desires. At The Aesthetic Institute, Dr. Robert Wald uses BOTOX® Cosmetic, injectable fillers, and Sciton® laser treatments to provide patients with a nonsurgical facelift.
BOTOX® Cosmetic
Dr. Wald uses BOTOX® Cosmetic primarily to treat frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines as well as for additional FDA-approved medical treatments. This neurotoxin formula derived from botulinum toxin type A blocks nerve signals to temporarily paralyze facial muscles from contracting and causing facial wrinkles. Dr. Wald conducts the procedure on an outpatient basis at his Fullerton practice, and it takes only a few minutes per treatment. Patients need no downtime to recover, and they begin to see satisfying results within 24 to 48 hours. Results typically last between three and six months, after which time most patients return for touch-up treatments.
Injectable Fillers
Unlike BOTOX®, injectable fillers do not inhibit the movement of facial muscles to reduce wrinkles. Rather, they fill in the tissue where the wrinkles or lines are located to restore the face to a fuller and more youthful appearance. Dr. Wald offers the FDA-approved facial injectable fillers of JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and RADIESSE® at his Fullerton practice. These fillers can effectively treat wrinkles around the eyes, smile lines (nasolabial folds), thinning lips, loss of definition along the jawline, loss of volume in the cheeks, depressions in the nose, and more.
Treatment With the Sciton® Laser
The Sciton® laser is a new, cutting-edge technology that Dr. Wald uses for skin tightening, acne scar treatment, sun spots, wrinkles, dermal rejuvenation, vascular lesion reduction, and more. The heat from the Sciton® laser kills active bacteria, shrinks oil glands, and stimulates collagen growth and contraction to heal the skin. Precision cooling prevents the surface skin from being damaged while the laser heat penetrates deep into the dermal layer. Treatment lasts only 15 to 30 minutes and requires no downtime, and patients experience little to no postoperative swelling or discomfort. Dr. Wald uses it on all skin types with great results.
If you have facial lines, volume loss, acne scars, or any other signs of aging or skin damage, Dr. Robert Wald is a board-certified plastic surgeon who can rejuvenate and revitalize your face. Call (714) 312-3549 or fill out our online contact form to schedule your consultation today so Dr. Wald can help restore your face to its natural, youthful beauty.

While you’ve attempted eating healthy and exercising on a regular basis, perhaps you still haven’t achieved desirable results. While body contouring procedures like liposuction and abdominoplasty can provide effective results, we’ve also provided a few helpful tips for getting lean below.
Don’t Skip Carbs
Carbohydrates seem to get a bad rap in the world of dieting, but the truth is that they are needed in order to optimize weight loss. Just make sure you’re consuming “good carbs” from healthy foods like fruit, vegetables, brown rice, and whole grain bread.

Make Changes and Be Realistic
When many people attempt to get in shape, they often have no problem sticking to a diet and exercise regimen. However, finding motivation can get harder over time and even discourage you from maintaining your existing results. You’re Never Too Old for Plastic Surgery
Are you considering plastic surgery? If you’re in your 40s or 50s, you may wonder if you’re too old to undergo a procedure like a facelift or liposuction. While most plastic surgery procedures are performed on patients under 70 years of age, the patient’s overall health and medical conditions will ultimately determine if an individual is suited for plastic surgery.
In fact, a 73-year-old woman from England recently underwent a facelift, neck lift, and a breast augmentation to improve the attractiveness of her face and body.
“I have friends my age who dress much more conservatively than me who say, ‘I wish I could wear what you do.’ There’s nothing stopping them though – it’s just all in their head. Just because I’m in my eighth decade, I don’t see why I should fade into the background.”
The retired secretary also joined the dating site, Match.com. Receiving several inquiries from men in their 30s and 40s (she’s respectfully turned them down), she felt very flattered that her new appearance was able to attract younger men. Aside from loving the way she looks physically, she says:
“There is nothing wrong with a little bit of nip and tuck to keep myself looking as young as I feel.”
Ms. Pesch proves that if your health is good and you’re free of any serious medical conditions, age plays a smaller role than once thought.
If you desire to undergo surgery and want to know if you’re a candidate, we encourage you to contact our Orange County practice by calling (888) 401-2806 or by filling out our online contact form. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Wald looks forward to helping you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Fat Transfer in Fullerton, CA
If you’re like many people, projecting a youthful appearance becomes harder to accomplish as you get older. Even if you’ve focused on taking care of yourself, the aging process has likely still affected you to some extent. While numerous surgical procedures can diminish aging and restore an attractive look, less-invasive treatments can be just as effective. With the number of people undergoing fat transfers, it’s time you found out what all the excitement is about.
What Is Fat Transfer?
Fat transfer is a simple cosmetic procedure that involves harvesting fat cells from one part of the body and then injecting them into the treatment site(s) to achieve a rejuvenated or enhanced appearance. This procedure has the double benefit of achieving more slender body contours and a more youthful facial appearance. It can also be used to enhance the size and shape of the buttocks.
A fat transfer procedure can noticeably improve the following conditions:
Hollow areas beneath the eyes
- Loss of fullness in the cheeks
- Deep nasolabial folds (creases around the nose and mouth)
- Thinning lips Loss of volume and/or shape in the buttocks
Benefits of Fat Transfer
- No scarring
- Minimal recovery time
- Immediate results
Is Fat Transfer Right for Me?
Fat transfer can be beneficial if you’ve noticed the development of fine lines and wrinkles on your face or lost volume in certain areas of your body. Ideal candidates for the fat transfer procedure are in good overall health and have at least one donor area on the body from where excess fat tissue can be removed.
How Is a Fat Transfer Procedure Performed?
After a personalized consultation in which your preferences and goals are discussed, Dr. Wald will determine which areas of your face and body can benefit from fat transfer. Fat transfers are carried out on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia administered to ease patient discomfort. Once liposuction is utilized to remove excess fat cells from the donor area of the body (e.g., abdomen, lower back, thighs), it is purified and then strategically injected into the areas of the face and body that have lost fullness.
