Getting Beach Ready: Male Body Enhancement

It is no surprise that most people find themselves feeling insecure with bathing suit season lurking just around the corner. At the beach or pool, the most common attire includes bikinis, short shorts, and tank tops – pretty much anything that reveals a lot of skin. Since getting a beach body cannot happen over night, many people diet and exercise long before summer hits so they can look and feel good when it comes time to slip into the latest summer fashions.

Although women seem to be the main ones who fear showing off their bodies during the hotter months, many men are also insecure about removing their t-shirt in front of people at the beach or pool.

Men Do Care About Their Bodies!

Whether they want to be more toned, have better-shaped pectorals, or have a more slim and muscular abdomen, many men have tried to address problem areas by practicing a healthy lifestyle. Even though diet and exercise are effective in weight loss and muscle toning, they cannot correct all features of the male body. For this reason, more men are seeking cosmetic enhancements to achieve a more masculine and toned physique.

Male Body Enhancement ProceduresBefore and After Gynecomastia Surgery

  • Fat reduction (liposuction): Some pockets of fat tend to be resistant to diet and exercise, especially areas such as the abdomen, flanks (“love handles”), chest, chin, and neck. Liposuction is a surgical technique used to target these fatty areas and improve the contours of the body.
  • Abdominal reduction (tummy tuck): Excess abdominal fat and loose abdominal muscles and skin are often difficult for men to target without the use of surgery. Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck surgery, can be performed on a man’s body to remove excess skin and fat, tighten the abdominal wall, and trim the waistline.
  • Muscle-enhancing surgery (implants): Some men feel as if their calves are lacking fullness or would like their chest more “bulked out.” Calf or pectoral implants can be used to enhance the shape of these muscles and improve the contours of the body.

By undergoing one or a combination of these procedures, a man can achieve a figure that is more slender, toned, and masculine. He can walk onto the beach or into the pool area and proudly take off his shirt and enjoy the summer weather with confidence.

Do you want to achieve more toned and slender body contours? Dr. Wald is an experienced plastic surgeon who can help you decide on the best procedure to meet your goals. You can schedule your consultation by calling (714) 312-3549 or by filling out our online contact form.

Can I Have Children After a Tummy Tuck?

Although having children is often a joyous experience for women, the changes pregnancy can do to the body can leave many women unsatisfied with their physique. Among these changes are loose, hanging skin on the stomach and weak abdominal muscles, which may be impossible to correct even with diet and exercise.

The irreversible changes to the body post-childbirth are the main reasons many women opt for surgical enhancements, such as tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty), to flatten the abdomen and tighten the abdominal muscles.

Tummy Tuck Surgery and Pregnancy

Tummy Tuck Surgery Before and AfterAbdominoplasty involves excision to remove excess fat and skin that are resistant to exercise and a healthy diet regimen. Tummy tuck surgery can treat fat deposits on the hips and upper and lower abdomen, and this procedure results in a flatter, better-contoured abdomen.

Even though this is a great option after a body-altering experience such as childbirth, many tummy tuck surgery patients wonder if they can have more children after undergoing a tummy tuck procedure. The answer to that question is yes, but it is not recommended to undergo a tummy tuck until you have finished having children.

Undergoing tummy tuck surgery and then later giving birth to a child will reverse the original results from the procedure. Additional pregnancies post-abdominoplasty will cause the skin to stretch out again and the abdominal muscles to loosen back up. Therefore, it is highly recommended that patients wait until they are have finished having children before deciding to have a tummy tuck performed.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Tummy Tuck Surgery?

The best candidate for tummy tuck surgery is a woman who has already experienced childbirth and does not plan on having any more children in the future. It is also important for the tummy tuck patient to be in good health, have realistic expectations, and have already tried diet and exercise to achieve their desired appearance without success.

Eliminate Excess Weight Before Summer

Would You Like to Lose Excess Weight Before Summer?

Would you like to lose excess weight before summer? With summer quickly approaching, you may feel pressured to attain an attractive physique. While you’ve attempted eating healthy and exercising on a regular basis, perhaps you still haven’t achieved desirable results. While body contouring procedures like liposuction and abdominoplasty can provide effective results, we’ve also provided a few helpful tips for getting lean below.

Don’t Skip Carbs

Carbohydrates seem to get a bad rap in the world of dieting, but the truth is that they are needed in order to optimize weight loss. Just make sure you’re consuming “good carbs” from healthy foods like fruit, vegetables, brown rice, and whole grain bread.

Work Out at Home

Whether it be the stressful work schedule or the busy life at home, most people don’t have time to make daily trips to the gym. With the endless amount of workout videos and varieties of in-home workout equipment available, exercising in the comfort of your own home provides simplicity and privacy.

Make Changes and Be Realistic

When many people attempt to get in shape, they often have no problem sticking to a diet and exercise regimen. However, finding motivation can get harder over time and even discourage you from maintaining your existing results. By making subtle tweaks to your diet and slowly easing into to a workout regimen, you increase your chances of achieving longer-lasting results.

If you’ve been unable to achieve satisfactory results through diet and exercise, we encourage you to contact our Orange County practice today. Call (888) 401-2806 or fill out our online contact form to schedule your personalized consultation with Dr. Robert Wald.

Mommy Makeover Surgery In Orange County

Mommy Makeover Results

mommy makeover surgeryWomen who have had their children notice the effects of pregnancy and age.  It’s quite concerning for a woman who has always looked good, but now has a tummy that has gained fat and loose skin and breasts that are smaller and more saggy.  Unfortunately, diet and exercise can not improve these problems.

To correct these problems, some sort of abdominal suturing or tightening is required.  Not uncommonly, a breast augmentation is performed at the same time.  These 2 operations are very common and usually called a Mommy Makeover.  My advice to my patients is to do this surgery earlier in life.  The younger this makeover is performed, the longer the woman can enjoy it.  This procedure is extremely satisfying to the patient.  She can now go back to the youthful appearance she had prior to her pregnancies and increasing age.

mommy makeover procedureTo determine exactly what needs to be done, a woman needs to see a plastic surgeon.  There are several options available to treat the abdomen. These include an Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) or some modification of this procedure.  There are short scar Abdominoplasties combined with liposuction. Occasionally, liposuction can be done alone if the skin envelop is without a lot of loose skin and stretched muscles.

The breasts are also of concerns following pregnancy.  The breasts usually deflate and sagginess can occur.  There are 2 options to treat the breasts.  This can include placement of a breast implant alone or a Mastopexy or breast lift.  A breast lift can be done alone or in combination with a breast implant.

My patients are extremely pleased with the result of these procedures.  It is one of the most satisfying surgeries I perform.  If one wants to rid the bodily consequences of age and pregnancy, these procedures can accomplish your goals.

What Is the Mommy Makeover?

mother and childThe “Mommy Makeover” is a catchy nickname for a combination of cosmetic procedures designed to reverse the visible effects of pregnancy on the body. Sagging breasts, stretch marks, excess skin on the abdomen, and fat in new and undesired places are just a few of the side effects of pregnancy, and the Mommy Makeover can remedy all of them.

Those who consider the Mommy Makeover have likely tried every diet and exercise routine available to try to get their pre-pregnancy body back. The truth is, no amount of diet and exercise can eliminate excess skin, perk up deflated breasts, or remove stretch marks. New fat deposits on the lower abdomen and thighs are also often extremely difficult – if not impossible – to remove.

Depending on the results you desire, Dr. Wald offers any combination of breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty), and liposuction to correct the bodily changes that result from pregnancy.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation can significantly boost a woman’s confidence, especially after childbirth. Breast implants will increase the size and improve the shape of a woman’s breasts. There are many choices associated with this procedure, and Dr. Wald will thoroughly inform you of all your options during your consultation.

Breast Lift

Women often have sagging breasts after pregnancy. Sagging can be slight or more severe, with the nipples falling below the breast crease or pointing downward. A breast lift will remove excess skin and elevate the breasts to a higher position. This procedure does not increase breast size, which is why it is often performed in conjunction with breast augmentation.

Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck surgery targets excess skin and fat in the upper and lower abdomen, resulting in a trimmer, firmer midsection. As a result of pregnancy, many women have weakened or separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), which are tightened during this procedure. Stretch marks will also be removed if they are located on the skin that is to be excised.

Liposuction

Liposuction will target all the areas of the body where fat seems to “stick.” The arms, back, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, hips, and flanks are just some of the common areas women choose to firm up with liposuction. The best candidates have good skin elasticity and do not have excess sagging skin. Those who do have a significant amount of excess skin will have better results with tummy tuck surgery.
